Safety Class

This class is mandatory for anyone that wishes to rent coldshop time.  In order to have access to the variety of equipment and tools BAGI offers, there are certain safety protocols that need to be understood by every community member. Please call, or email us to schedule a Safety Course.

Coldworking 1 Basics

Level: Beginner

This class is for those with minimal to no cold working experience. It is an introductory course that will show you how to use and safely operate the wet saw, the belt grinder, the flat lap grinder, and the lathe. Each student will understand how and when to use each piece of equipment in a safe and efficient manner. Cutting, grinding, and ultimately polishing glass work will be accomplished! Beyond basic understanding of cold working processes, this class will provide a strong foundation for further exploration into more advanced cold working techniques.

Prerequisite: Previous glass art experience a plus but not required.

Coldworking 2

Level: Intermediate

All students taking this course, will have already taken Coldworking 1 Basic course, or have extensive knowledge in the cold working process. This course is advanced because it goes beyond the basics of cutting and grinding. Students will be shown how and when to use the sandblaster, and the Merker lathe. They will better understand the function of diamond wheels and learn how to create surface textures and patterns on glass. After taking this course, students will have access to all equipment rentals that BAGI has to offer in the cold working studio.

All Classes Cancellation Policy (*Classes purchased from BAGI)

  • Cancellations made at 5 days prior to the first day of a class will receive a 100% refund.
  • Cancellations made 3-4 days prior to the first day of class will be issued a 50% refund.
  • No refunds will be given with less than 72 hours’ notice of cancellation.
  • No refunds for no shows.
  • If BAGI were to cancel a class(es), a full refund for the class(es) will be issued.
