Fusing Classes

Introduction to Fusing

Level: Intermediate (2-session class, 8 hours)

This class is designed to give each student a foundational understanding of the Fused Glass process from start to finish. Each student will complete two fused glass pieces with the option to turn them into a shallow plate or bowl. Students will be introduced to full fuse and tack fused texture, will learn how to cut and shape glass, use a variety of molds to slump their glass, and learn how to do light finish work on their projects in the cold shop. The class will briefly cover the firing process, schedules, and setting up the kiln. After completing this course, students will be able to confidently take more advanced fusing classes and rent studio time at BAGI.

Glass Pot Melt

Level: Beginner (2-session class, 6 hours)

In this two-day workshop we will explore the ins and outs of how to construct and run a pot melt. A fun way to use scrape glass is to create interesting patterns, which can be used as-is or cut and remelted into a new unique design. We melt the glass in a flowerpot crucible so that the glass drips down into a one-of-a-kind liquid pattern.

On our second day we will use cold working techniques to finish into a final piece.
